The top track for your accordion shutter will be based on where the track will mount and what permanent obstacles would the accordion need to clear in order to open and close. As an example, for your average window you will use a one inch wall track to mount the accordion shutter to the wall.

A one inch wall track means the top track will stick out from the wall one additional inch of clearance and the accordion shutter will be able to clear a sill up to one inch. For a two inch wall track, these are made to mount to the wall and give a two inch clearance. For example, if you have a fixed obstacle like a doorknob that sticks out two inches from the wall, the accordion will clear the doorknob when opening and closing. For ceiling mounts, these are made when you decide to mount to the ceiling instead of the wall. These are mostly used in a trapped area or a porch, where there is not a wall to mount to.

On each side of the accordion shutter, the blades stack on the right and left when they are open. For most windows the blades will stack fifty percent on the right and fifty percent on the left which is the default setting. Offset stacking is used where you would like more of the blades to stack on one side. For example, if you have a sliding door that opens up on the right side, you will want the stacking to be seventy percent left and thirty percent right. that way, you can lock the shutter from the inside of your home.

What to cut to??? This means in simplest terms whither you want us to add to the width and height so it will fit around your window and account for stacking on the left and right. , or, you have already taken everything into account and the measurements you gave is exactly what you want the shutter to be cut to. If you know exactly what you need the shutter to be cut to, choose “Finish Size.” If you want us to add the additional length to fit around the window, then you can choose “Add For Stacking.”

To get the most accurate Height measurement, please include the vertical opening size, along with the frame of the window.
